This first lumpfish from a series of 3 (winter 2026) is dedicated to an incredible artist that my friend DJ Fowler introduced me to when he shared an audio file of some of his treasured tunes. I was so delighted by all the new musical magic that exploded in my studio. His electrifying funky guitar is so astonishing, I am wired with excitement. How did I not know this INCREDIBLE musician?! He fit beautifully as a dedication because this lumpfish is definitely amplified!!
I have begun the lumpfish series to be one that incorporated more clay and glass components…. my mediums want to be intertwined more and more, like the reminder that WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. While the lumpfish have bumpy dorsal fins I decided that ceramic spikes (I make many clay components during clay play time and then use them here and there as the pieces evolve). I am enjoying the luminescence of the present in the glass combined with the 300 years of paper because it makes it continuously present, continuously connected to the past.
The lumpfish have a special spot in my heart, for they echo to me all the lumps that we all carry, that make us the weird and wonderful individuals we are. Self acceptance for our many lumps is paramount for deep healing. GO lumpfish!!
